Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) – A Necessity in Risk Assessment of Fire/Explosion Safety

The huge explosion occurred in Beirut, Lebanon few weeks ago reveals the importance of appropriate hazardous substance storage and control in process plants. With the awareness rising, a series of questions come along, on how to identify hazardous substance, how dangerous they are and how to reduce the risk of fire/explosion. HAC is a tool to clarify these questions and an insight into hazardous substance/area control. Personal Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) is the last defense against inhalation of hazardous substances. Therefore, the suitability and adequacy of RPE is crucial. We all have different facial features. How can we make sure the respirator is fit to each of the individual user? What are the test methods available?

In this 30 minutes session, I will be sharing important aspects of respirator face fit test, such as the different types of RPE, when the fit test is required and the different fit test methods.

Managing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Offices and Public Places amid COVID-19

The IAQ of air-conditioned offices is a subject of public health importance because we spend a substantial amount of time in these premises. Good indoor air quality can lead to improved productivity at the workplace.

Scientists are stressing the importance of proper building ventilation in preventing the spread of COVID-19, citing it is as important as social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands regularly. A building’s HVAC system – the air conditioner, furnace, and ducts – must be working properly to prevent the spread.
